Tahiti+Moorea Traveller Reviews
We love Tahiti and the island of Moorea, with its crystal blue waters, sugar sands, soaring mountain peaks, tropical plants, and friendly fishes. But don’t take our word on it. Here are some opinions from the lovely travellers on Tripadvisor.com.
Marmc60 from Louisiana, USA recommends: Dr. Poole’s Dolphin and Whale Tour
“My husband and I recently returned from a vacation on the Tahitian Princess, which cruised the Hawaiian Islands and French Polynesia. The highlight of our entire trip was our afternoon shore excursion on board Dr. Michael Poole’s dolphin and whale watching boat tour. We not only enjoyed his excellent lecture/talk on dolphin and whales, but were also fortunate enough to see a spinner dolphin and a humpback whale. Seeing the whale was an awesome (and I don’t mean that in the slang sense!) experience for us both, and Dr. Poole’s excitement over the sighting and his obvious enthusiasm and love for these creatures made the afternoon one we will never forget. It is a “must do” activity on Moorea!”
Rimen recommends: Eva Perles Pearls
“I visited pearl shops throughout Papeete and Moorea. On our last day in Moorea, I visited Eva Perles’ shop. She was very friendly and knowledgeable, and I felt very comfortable with her. I knew if I bought a pearl from her, I’d be getting the real deal. Not to mention, she had an excellent selection of pearls in all price ranges. I ended up buying my black pearl from her.
If you plan on spending even one day in Moorea, definitely visit Eva Perles, its a nice shop with beautiful pearls and wonderful service.”
Jen1985 from Invercargill, NZ, recommends: Tiki Village Cultural Centre
“Visitors experience the traditions and life-style of an old Tahitian village through demonstrations of weaving, stone carving, tattooing and painting, plus music from traditional musical instruments including a nose flute.
This was a great evening out as it was great to experience the Tahitian culture. We also enjoyed a huge buffet of traditional food, including meats which were cooked underground. The evening concluded with traditional dance, songs and fire dancing. This was a fantastic night, and I would strongly recommend clients do this while they are in Moorea.”
Ajwkmills from Indiana, USA, recommends: Belvedere Lookout
“We hired a car for the day and decided to take a trip up to the Belvedere lookout. The drive up the narrow twisty mountain road is an experience all unto itself. Once you reach the top (it is really 3/4 of the way up) the view is quite magnificent.
In front of you, you are greeted by views of Cooks bay to your right and Opanahu bay to the left, it really has to be seen. It is a little bit cooler up at the lookout so take a cover up if you get cold easily. On the way down there are a couple of places to stop and look at— a few temple ruins which are very interesting, not only for the ruins, but also for the spooky walk through the forest to get to them.”
Unecolaborateur from Sao Paolo, BR, recommends: Dinner at Le Cocotier
“This restaurant is an excellent option for dinner in Moorea. It’s very near most of the hotels on the island, which is very convenient.
The menu is a combination of French dishes and Tahitian flavour— the rabbit dishes are wonderful, as are the shrimp raviolis. Oh, and the Cordon Bleu was also done very well. But if you want what is really special, try the daily specials. For dessert, the Bananas Foster is an excellent choice. The wine list has a huge of brands and varietals, and the restaurant’s cellar preserves and ages the wines wonderfully. The services is dedicated and very educated. It was a pleasure!”
